Induction at Solihull

Stephen Dancer was today inducted to the ministry at Solihull Presbyterian Church.
Ian Hamilton of Cambridge Presbyterian Church spoke on Isaiah 42 :1-4 on the church's supreme shepherd/ pastor.
His headings were
1. His dependance on God - Here is one God upholds and God has put his Spirit upon him. The servant stands among us as one who needs the Spirit.
2. He unyielding faithfulness to God - v1,3,4 establishing justice to the nations. He was obedient to the death.
3. The personal humility of the servant - the 3 verbs in v2 show us how unostentatious he was. It is never enough to speak the truth the way you speak the truth matters.
4. The servants unimaginable grace - one who comes to reveal the heart of God. Ian spoke of glory washing the feet of fearful disciples.
The Lords servant is unique but our job is to be patterned on him. The Spirit that upheld him will uphold you. The ministers prayer is Lord make me like Jesus.
Peter Naylor of Llandaff Presbyterian Church gave the charge to Stephen
1. Preach the word
2. Preach Christ
3 Reason with people
4. Preach with certainty.
There might have been a 5th but I missed it.
Solihill PC has around 20 people attending it. Stephen asked us to continue praying for them.
